( 1%) resistor can be selected for r1. table 1 list s the select ed r1 values for some typical outp u t voltages (assuming r2 = 10k ? ). pow e r good the power good pin is an open collector output completed with a pull up resistor (10k ? recommend ed). the pull up resistor can be tied to a supply within the voltage rang e of the pin (0v to 5.5v). for example, the pull up resistor can be tied to the input voltage when it is being monitored by an ic p o wered fro m this input voltage. it monitors the output voltage, and if the output voltage is 10 % below it s regulation point, the p g pin becomes low. table 1?a d j u s t a b l e o u t p u t v o l t age r1 values (r2=10k ? ) v out (v) r1 ( ? ) 1.25 15k 1.5 20k 1.8 26k 2 30k 2.5 40k 2.8 46k 3 50k 3.3 56k 4 70k 5 90k by pass capacitors for lower n oise, the reference voltage can be bypassed by an external capacitor. a low esr capacitor, such as the ceramic type, will provide the best performance. MP2002 ? l o w input voltage, 500ma linear regulator MP2002 rev. 1. 11 www.monolithicpower.com 9 10/10/2011 mps proprietar y information. pate nt protec ted. un authorized photo c op y and d uplication prohibited. ? 2011 mps. all rights reserved. pcb la y o u t guide pcb layout is very important to achieve good regulation, ripple rejection, transient response and thermal perfo rmance. i t is highly recommend ed to duplicate evb layout for optimum performance. if change is ne cessar y , please f o llow these guidelines a nd take figu re 2 for reference. 1) input and output bypass ceramic capacitors are suggest ed to be put close to th e in pin and out pi n respective ly. 2) ensure all f eedback co nnections a r e short and direct. place the fe edback re sistors and compensation components as clo s e to the chip as po ssible. 3) connect in, out a nd especia lly gnd respectively to a large copper area to cool the chip to improve thermal performance and long-term reliability.
